Magic eden is blocked Until the Wallet Matches Solana
Magic eden is now a Solana-only NFT marketplace checkout, so a wallet network mismatch means the active signing context does not match the listing’s Solana transaction. Cancel the pending request, select the intended Solana account in Phantom, Solflare, or another compatible wallet, reconnect Magic Eden, and reopen Buy Now. The approval should show SOL as payment, the expected item, marketplace and royalty charges, and a Solana transaction request. Signing does more than refresh the interface: a successful transaction moves the NFT to the buyer-controlled address and settles payment on-chain. The sections below cover prerequisites, pre-confirmation choices, exact state changes, verification, and recovery when the first request has gone stale.
A Solana Listing With an Ethereum Wallet Active
A buyer viewing a Solana NFT while an Ethereum account remains active should stop before Buy Now and restore a Solana signing context.
Wallet Context
Phantom, Solflare, and Backpack can hold multiple accounts, while Phantom also presents several chain contexts in one interface. Magic Eden needs the Solana public key that the buyer intends to own the NFT. Confirm the address in the wallet and the address displayed by the marketplace before opening checkout. Solana uses 32-byte public keys, commonly shown in Base58, so a familiar account label alone does not establish a match. A browser with several wallet extensions can route the connection prompt to the wrong provider; choose one provider for this session, then reconnect it deliberately.
Balance and Listing Context
The active address needs enough SOL for the list price, the selected royalty amount, and network execution. It must also point at the exact item page, because a collection page, an offer modal, and Buy Now create different requests. Read the mint or asset address, not only the artwork and collection name. That sequence settles the account question before the wallet asks for authority.
The Checkout Screen Before Any Signature
The Magic Eden checkout separates connection approval from purchase signing, and only the purchase request authorizes changes to SOL and NFT ownership. Connecting proves control of an address and lets the site read relevant balances; it does not buy the NFT. Buy Now builds a transaction for the selected listing. The wallet preview is the final checkpoint for the active account, SOL amount, creator royalty choice, marketplace fee treatment, and network charge.
Why Does the Wallet Network Mismatch Appear?
The wallet network mismatch appears because Magic Eden requests a Solana transaction while the browser exposes another chain, account, or stale connection.
Unsupported Marketplace Surface
Magic Eden’s active marketplace surface supports Solana; EVM-chain and Bitcoin marketplace support ended in March 2026. An old Ethereum, Polygon, Base, or Bitcoin tab therefore cannot produce a supported checkout. Reloading brings the session back to the Solana marketplace, where SOL is the accepted on-chain currency. The mismatch marks a product-state boundary rather than an instruction to cycle among Ethereum chain identifiers.
Stale Solana Account State
Even on Solana, the marketplace session and extension diverge after an account switch. The site may remember one address while Phantom exposes another. Close every pending approval, disconnect the marketplace session, select the intended account, and reconnect. The account panel and wallet should then identify the same 32-byte public key. That reset resolves the mismatch before Magic Eden constructs another transaction.
Fee, Royalty, and Balance Checks
The Magic Eden cost check must separate the buyer’s outflow, the seller’s deduction, creator royalties, and Solana’s transaction fee before signing.
From a timing perspective, Magic Eden sets its Solana marketplace transaction fee at 2%, while listing carries a 0% marketplace fee. The seller receives the list price minus the 2% charge. The buyer pays the list price plus the chosen or enforced creator royalty and the network fee. Optional royalties expose three settings: Full applies 100% of the creator rate, Half applies 50%, and None applies 0%; Full is the default. Magic Eden recommends retaining at least 0.01 SOL for transaction costs. Because 1 SOL equals 1,000,000,000 lamports, that reserve equals 10,000,000 lamports, while Solana’s base fee is 5,000 lamports per signature before any priority fee.
Solana computes an optional priority fee from the requested compute-unit price and limit, using 1,000,000 micro-lamports per lamport. The wallet should display the final estimate because congestion changes that component. Solana sends 100% of the priority fee to the validator; it burns 50% of the 5,000-lamport base fee and sends the remaining 50% to the block producer.
What Changes On-Chain After Approval?
A successful Magic Eden purchase executes one atomic Solana transaction that transfers asset ownership, distributes payment, and makes the consumed listing unavailable.
For a traditional Metaplex Token Metadata NFT, the buyer’s associated token account receives the token, whose mint normally carries 0 decimals and a supply of 1. A Metaplex Core asset records ownership in 1 asset account and requires no associated token account. Compressed NFTs use Bubblegum and state compression, so their proof path differs, yet the sale still changes the recognized owner. In the same successful execution, the marketplace logic distributes SOL among the seller, fee recipient, and creator when a royalty applies. If a required instruction fails, Solana rolls back every program state change, although it still charges the network fee.
Connection approval leaves ownership unchanged; transaction approval authorizes the sale. After execution, the seller no longer controls the transferred asset, and the buyer balance carries it. That atomic settlement differs from an off-chain cart confirmation that completes later.
Verification by Signature and Mint Address
At a protocol level, Magic Eden purchase verification should match one Solana transaction signature, the connected buyer address, and the NFT’s mint or Core asset address. Solscan and Solana Explorer read cluster data independently from the marketplace cache. Solana public keys are 32 bytes, and an Ed25519 transaction signature is 64 bytes before Base58 encoding. Confirm three fields: status contains no execution error, buyer ownership includes the intended asset, and SOL debits match checkout. Solana exposes 3 commitment labels - processed, confirmed, and finalized - so use confirmed or finalized instead of trusting a temporary interface toast.
Recovery From a Stale or Rejected Request
Broadly, Magic Eden recovery starts by deciding whether the request never opened, was rejected locally, expired on Solana, or already reached the ledger.
Connection and Authorization Codes
In Phantom, provider error 4900 means disconnected; 4100 means unauthorized; 4001 records a user-rejected request. Close the old modal, select the intended Solana account, reconnect, and reopen the item. Error 32003 represents a rejected transaction and frequently accompanies an invalid request or insufficient SOL, while 32603 marks an internal provider error. A browser restart plus a new connection rebuilds the provider state.
Expired Blockhash
That thread continues in Magic eden compared. Every Solana transaction carries a recent blockhash. The runtime’s BlockhashQueue retains 300 recent blockhashes, but validators accept only the youngest 151 because the maximum processing age is 150 with zero-based indexing. Solana targets 400-millisecond slots, and those slots fluctuate between 400 and 600 milliseconds, producing an ordinary validity window of about 60 to 90 seconds. Once that window closes, the old signed request cannot execute. Return to the item, confirm the listing remains available, and create a new request carrying a fresh blockhash. Reusing the expired payload does not extend its validity. A signature search distinguishes an expired request from a transaction that landed.
Submitted but Not Reflected
If the wallet produced a signature, search it in Solscan or Solana Explorer before retrying. A recorded transaction with an execution error is final for that signature; a confirmed successful sale already moved ownership even when the Magic Eden cache has not refreshed. If the explorer shows no record after blockhash expiry, reopen the listing and submit a fresh request.
Clear the marketplace connection only after preserving the signature and address. A cache refresh fixes presentation, whereas a new transaction changes the ledger. Choose between two actions: refresh the display for a successful signature, or rebuild checkout for an absent or expired transaction.
The Final Pre-Sign Decision Checklist
The final Magic Eden decision should reduce five checkout conditions to explicit yes-or-no checks before the wallet displays the signing request.
- Surface: The item page identifies Solana and prices the direct purchase in SOL.
- Account: Magic Eden and the wallet identify the same intended 32-byte public key.
- Asset: The mint or Core asset address matches the NFT selected on the item page.
- Funds: Available SOL covers the list price, royalty choice, and recommended 0.01 SOL transaction reserve.
- Request: Old wallet modals are closed before one fresh Buy Now request is created.
If any line remains unresolved, cancel the modal and correct that specific condition. Rebuilding checkout with a matched Solana account carries more reliable state than approving a request left open before an account or network change.
Everyday questions about Magic eden
Can a Ledger-backed Solana account complete Magic Eden checkout?
A Ledger-backed Solana account can complete checkout when a compatible interface such as Phantom or Solflare connects the same public key and the device supports every instruction shown. Unlock Ledger, open the Solana app, enable the connection through the wallet, and review the transaction on the device. If blind signing or an unsupported instruction blocks approval, cancel the request and resolve the wallet-device compatibility before reopening Buy Now.
Is a Solana devnet balance usable for a marketplace purchase?
A Solana devnet balance cannot fund a mainnet Magic Eden purchase because devnet SOL and mainnet SOL belong to separate clusters with separate ledger states. The same 32-byte public key can appear on both clusters, which makes the balances look related, but the funds do not cross between them. Select Solana mainnet in the wallet, reconnect the marketplace session, and rebuild checkout from the item page.
Does a new buyer address need an NFT token account before checkout?
A new buyer address does not always need a pre-existing token account before checkout. Traditional Metaplex Token Metadata assets use an associated token account for the NFT mint, and a purchase transaction can create the needed account. MPL Core stores ownership in its single asset account, while Bubblegum compressed NFTs use state-compression records. The wallet still needs enough SOL to cover any account creation and transaction costs included in the request.
What happens if another buyer takes the listing while I change wallets?
The original purchase request will fail or become unusable if the listing is no longer available before your Solana transaction executes. A listing remains an order, not a reserved item, while you switch accounts or reconnect. Reopen the item page and read the updated state before signing anything new. If an earlier transaction already has a signature, check that signature first so you do not confuse interface delay with order loss.
Can Crossmint card checkout bypass a Solana wallet network mismatch?
Crossmint checkout uses a separate payment flow for eligible collections, so it does not require the same crypto-wallet signing sequence as a direct SOL purchase. Availability belongs to each collection and checkout configuration. The destination still needs to represent the intended Solana ownership address, and the provider handles payment processing before delivery. If the card option does not appear on the item, the standard Magic Eden Buy Now flow still requires a Solana wallet.
